“Nordic Music“ – Resistance, Persecution, Collaboration, and Reintegration in Norway’s Music Life 1930-1960.

Conference 26-27 March 2019 – „Music in the Reichskommissariat“

Scholarship Announcement:

Joint Conference Persecution – Collaboration – Resistance. Music in the Reichskommissariat Norwegen (1940-45)  – Münster, 26-27 March 2019
The German-Norwegian Research Project Nordic Music Politics (funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) will host the second part in a series of conferences, this time dealing with Norway’s musical life during the German occupation (1940-45).
The conference will take place 26-27 March 2019 at the Department of Musicology, University of Münster. The main conference language will be English.
The organizing committee offers two scholarships (travel costs, accommodation, publication of the results in conference proceedings) and encourages young scholars to submit a short proposal.
The topics should be based on new archival findings, unknown cases, or profound reassessments of known cases.
Such topics could be: political structures, artistic agencies, civil resistance, censorship, propaganda, reception of classical composers / repertoires, popular music and jazz, folk music, church concerts.
